On Site:
The retail establishment is equipped with
the base hardware kit of one SafetyLine™
Digital Internet
Video Camera, as well as one Portable SafetyLine™
Panic-Button (additional components may be optionally
added).
The Workers:
Workers log into SafetyLine™ NightWatch at daily
opening, check-in periodically throughout the shift to
report that everything is "OK", and log off at the
end of the day. The system will repeatedly and
proactively confirm that the workers are not in an emergency, and
take appropriate action if this is not the case.
• Check in to SafetyLine™ from any device, including:
telephone (speed dial), mobile phone, Web device (computer),
or optional "OK
Pendant".
• Periodically check in to SafetyLine™ to report that they are "OK."
• Declare a PANIC emergency if needed - via telephone
speed-dial, computer, or with the NightWatch emergency
Pendant.
The Monitors:
An unlimited number of Monitors are the person or persons responsible to
respond in the event of an emergency. They will receive
notification of a worker emergency and be able to take
appropriate action. These may anything such as co-workers,
supervisors, store-owners or even the Tsunami back-up Monitoring Centre.
• No dedicated full-time monitor is required.
• Remote safety
Video viewing.
• Respond quickly to distressed workers.
• Operators are able to perform their regular duties
while SafetyLine™ monitors the workers.
Emergency:
SafetyLine™ puts a Worker into emergency status for one of two reasons:
1) The worker requested assistance, (can
be done by pressing a “panic button.”
2) The worker failed to report that they were
"okay."
• When
a Worker fails to report on time, SafetyLine™ will
remind the Worker with a phone call and email. After a
grace period, the Worker is automatically
set to a state of emergency.
• When an emergency occurs, each person who has provided
contact info to SafetyLine™ as an Monitor will be
persistently alerted. SafetyLine™ will send out
email reminders (with Video links) to any email capable device, including
cellular phones, and also places voice phone calls to a
list of contacts to alert someone to the emergency. This
means that if a Worker requires assistance, SafetyLine™
will continuously attempt contact until someone
responds and action is taken.
Response:
• Once a Monitor has been alerted to an emergency,
SafetyLine™ provides a variety of information for the Worker
in trouble, including: report logs, emergency contacts for this worker and how to
reach them, worker specific information such as health
conditions, retail store specific information, phone numbers and addresses,
and live and recorded remote videos of emergency events.
• SafetyLine™ also provides a list of emergency response
protocol customized to each individual worker or group of
workers. As the operator performs these actions, (e.g. 1)
call worker, 2) call supervisor, etc.) SafetyLine™ records
the name of the Monitor, the time and date that the
actions were performed and any comments that were entered
by the Monitor. This helps the employer to show due
diligence.
